COMMUNICATION BARRIERS TO IMPLEMENTING RESEARCH DATA MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN INNOVATIVE SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES

Purpose — to systematize communication barriers to implementing research data management practices in innovative small and medium-sized enterprises and to substantiate the mechanism of their interaction. Methods: purposive selection and qualitative conceptual-analytical synthesis of recent publications on research data management, communication, open science, and data sharing in small and medium-sized enterprises. Results: informational-knowledge, coordination-role, and trust-behavioral barriers were identified, while resource and infrastructure constraints were defined as a context that intensifies them. The role of organizational silos and managerial gatekeeping in fragmenting data flows was explained. Conclusions: effective research data management depends on clarity of requirements, defined responsibility, trust, feedback, and readiness to share data. The proposed conceptual model provides a basis for further empirical testing among Ukrainian innovative enterprises.
