Abstract

The study examines European legal mechanisms for countering disinformation in the digital environment in the context of open science development. The purpose of the research is to identify the main legal, institutional, technological, ethical and communication instruments used within the European Union to ensure the reliability and transparency of scientific information and to assess their relevance for Ukraine. The research applies comparative legal, systemic, documentary, structural-functional, analysis and synthesis methods. The results demonstrate that effective counteraction to disinformation requires an integrated approach combining regulation of digital platforms with open access, research data management, academic integrity, digital identifiers and responsible use of artificial intelligence. The study proposes a five-component framework of mechanisms based on normative, institutional, technological, ethical and communication dimensions. The findings may contribute to the further development of Ukraine's open science policy and its integration into the European Research Area.
