Open access and open science

The journal Open Science and Innovation is a diamond open access publication, meaning it is freely available online without any restrictions or embargoes, and there are no publication fees for authors.

The editorial board supports the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which promotes the free and unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge. Under this principle, everyone is free to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

Free access to all electronic versions of the articles is available in the “Archive” section.

Open Research Data Policy

The journal is committed to the principles of transparency and reproducibility in scientific research. In accordance with open science principles, we recommend that authors:
  • Make the research data underlying their publication openly available by depositing them in data repositories (e.g., the National Repository of Research Data, Zenodo, Figshare, OSF, etc.) and providing the corresponding identifier (DOI or PID) in the article.
  • Link the deposited data to the article by specifying the repository name, persistent identifier (DOI or URL), and access conditions in the manuscript.
  • Include a Data Availability Statement in the final version of the article.
  • Apply open licences (preferably CC BY 4.0 or CC0) when depositing data to ensure maximum reusability.
Exceptions: Restrictions on data sharing may apply where disclosure could compromise the privacy of research participants, national security interests, or the intellectual property rights of third parties. In such cases, authors are required to clearly explain the reasons for the restriction in the Data Availability Statement.

Data Availability Statement examples:
"The data that support the findings of this study are openly available in the Zenodo repository at https://doi.org/[DOI] under a CC BY 4.0 licence."
"The data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request."
